Hobart was served by two commercial AM stations. 7HO launched in 1930 and 7HT launched in 1937.

FM radio arrived in Hobart in 1990. New station, TTT FM (now Sea FM 100.9) launched in July, followed by 7HO converting to FM in November. The following year, 7HT became a racing station and remained on AM. With 7HT still permitted to convert to FM, a separate station Heart 107.3 launched in 1998.
