Sea FM is a radio network owned by Southern Cross Austereo. The 3 stations in northern Queensland are part of Triple M LocalWorks. Whilst the stations in southern Queensland, New South Wales and Tasmania are part of the Today's Hit Network. The brand was created in the 1990s by RG Capital as supplementary FM licences are launched. In 2004, they sold the network to Macquarie Regional RadioWorks, now Southern Cross Austereo.

  • 1989 : 90.9 Sea FM launched on the Gold Coast
  • 1996 : 91.9 Sea FM launched on the Sunshine Coast. RG Capital buy Coast Rock FM, Gosford and renamed as 101.3 Sea FM
  • 1997 : 107.7 Sea FM launched in Devonport
  • 1999 : 99.5 Sea FM launched in Cairns; 100.7 Sea FM launched in Townsville; 98.7 Sea FM launched in Mackay; 101.9 Sea FM launched in Maryborough
  • 2000 : 101.5 Sea FM launched in Rockhampton; 93.1 Sea FM launched in Bundaberg
  • 2003 : 101.7 Sea FM launched in Burnie; 99.7 Sea FM launched in Scottsdale. RG Capital rename TTT FM, Hobart as 100.9 Sea FM.
  • 2004 : RG Capital sells their regional stations to Macquarie Regional RadioWorks (Southern Cross Austereo). Macquarie Regional RadioWorks buys DMG Radio's regional stations requiring them to sell Sea FM Townsville. It was bought by Prime Media Group and is now Zinc 100.7. The Sea FM stations in Victoria are rebranded as Star FM.
  • 2007 : Macquarie Regional RadioWorks buys Southern Cross Broadcasting requiring them to sell Sea FM in northern Tasmania. They are bought by Grant Broadcasters.
  • 2013 : With Sunshine Coast overlapping into Brisbane, Southern Cross Austereo required to sell Sea FM Sunshine Coast. It was bought by Eon Broadcasting and still retains its Sea FM branding. Grant Broadcasters rename Sea FM Scottsdale as 99.7 Chilli FM.
